So today it has been almost 2 weeks since we arrived and I still can hardly believe that we are here. We are figuring things out and finding our way around town. We have been reconnecting with people from our past here and meeting new people all the time. I wish my Dutch were better because I think that I would be less intimidated to start conversations, but we have been working with Rosetta Stone in Dutch (which Kaylie loves to practice on the computer) and are really trying to learn it. We are hopeful that in the next few months we’ll at least be able to get around without having to smile, nod, and reply to everyone who speaks to us that we “Sprect engels.” I know that we have not been very good about updating the blog since we arrived – without a phone or internet we have been somewhat out of the loop but I’m hoping that I can give a quick synopsis of what it’s been like with the following pictures. We’ve also done a few short videos but until I figure out how to post them you’ll have to wait.
Cleaning out our house: No more purple room for Kaylie

Saying Goodbye:

Ready for takeoff!

Landing in Amsterdam – with All our luggage (I told you we brought a lot!)

Keiric with a jet lag and a touch of the flu
Jeremy and Keiric on our way to church - they didn't dress alike on purpose but isn't it cute?!

Keiric on the back of my bike - he loves it!
This is my favorite spot in the city. There is a bench right here that I like to sit on and read from. There are actually 4 windmills here right in a row. Also, it always seems like the clouds are amzing here.

Rain, rain and more rain!

Waiting to catch our first trein (Trein = Train in Dutch)

We took the trein to Almere to visit a new friend, with Chris and Terri Chapman, who was celebrating her birthday. We were able to meet several Dutch and International people and have a potluck and play games. Keiric was SO excited to take the trein!

Kaylie riding with the Chapmans.

At the birthday party

Coming home on the trein - Are they cute or what?

Kaylie is doing great riding her own bike - but she has some problems starting and stopping on her own. We found this seat so she can ride behind Jer - she loves it and it is good to have for when we have to go farther distances and are riding near cars and canals!

We are so glad to hear all about everything going on! The boys really enjoyed seeing the pictures! Brody kept saying "Keiric! Keiric!" We miss you all so much - but we know you are doing amazing work! We will continue to be praying for you... and look forward to hearing more!
Love you all-
Jason, Allyson, Dakoda and Brody Roman :)
Wow!!! I love all the pictures. The kids look like they are enjoying and adjusting well... I am praying for your visas and stuff to get taken care of so you can better 'stay in the loop'. Well, just stopping by to let you know you are loved and not forgotten. Give the kids my love!

It's good to see you guys are getting settled in. We miss you guys and are praying for you. Are you going to post those pictures somewhere else that we can see them bigger? Facebook?
I love the pics. Looks like your having fun and adjusting well. I'll be praying for the language barrier and that learning the language will be a smooth and speedy process. Also praying for the kids, that they will meet new friends. Love you guys,
Jeff
Thanks for posting the pictures! Is it possible that Keiric already looks older? I'm glad you have had the opportunity to meet up with old friends and new one's. I'm still praying for you all! Oh, and just thought you'd like to know...I started school. I'm at the Paul Mitchell Academy. Well tell everyone I said "hi" and I can't wait to hear more.
