Our weekend

Jeremy has joined the power point team for Sunday morning service. We now have to get to church early (yes - I know, us! And we have been there early every time!) so that he can be sure to have the power point ready to go for worship. He and a few other church members will be taking over the job completely for Chris who has to go on furlough for 6 months starting in January. Kaylie also had her first meeting with the other children who will be doing a small skit/song for the Christmas Eve service - I'm planning on helping with the sets and costumes for them.

Also, we were able to meet with the youth that will be the leaders for their small group Bible study. There are 4 teens who have volunteered to lead the group and Jeremy and I will be training them on how to run and lead the Bible Study and mentoring them in the process. We are really excited about this role - it is very similar to how we worked with the cell groups at Palmcroft where we helped "coach" a Wednesday night small group. We had a great time meeting weekly with Chuck and Allison back then, and we are excited about the chance we have to work with the youth in the same way here. This way, instead of us coming in and assuming the leadership and then leaving the same hole when we leave, we will be able to help build their own leadership so that at the end of the year, we will all be better for it.

Kaylie was invited to her first birthday party yesterday afternoon. We spent the morning finding just the right gift, where we settled on a Disney Princess mini backpack full of Disney princess items; coloring book, colored pencils, stickers, shower gel, etc - all things Princessy. Because of course, what else do you get for a 7 year old girl? We then rode the bus to nearby Bergen for the party. Kaylie was shy to start, she did not know any of the other kids, but they almost all spoke English since most are students at the International school. She warmed up after winning one of the party games and brought home a package of sidewalk chalk which she is excited to use for hopscotch in the backyard. It was nice to meet the other children and some of their parents, Kaylie is already planning her own party in February!


Keiric has transitioned to a full time underwear wearer! He is doing very well with the potty training and he loves his new spiderman underwear. I can't believe how big he is getting! Check out that grin!

Also, for mom - Thanks for the puzzle - they had a great time putting it together!

Here's a pic of both kids enjoying their very first hot dog since we left the U.S. They sell hotdogs in a can here and I can't bring myself to buy them nor do they sell hotdog buns, but while we were out shopping a food stand had them on a rotisserie spit and it was lunch time - so . . . well look how much they enjoyed them. Also, check out the "bun" - they hollow out a panini bread for them!
