This morning we went to have coffee with some other GEM missionaries who live in the next town over and are currently working with an international church in Amsterdam. We had a great time meeting them, and they could empathize with our last few weeks since they have 4 kids! Their youngest is 6, and Kaylie is looking forward to playing with her at some point, especially since her name is Olivia (Kaylie's best friend from preschool is Olivia). Anyway, we had a great time talking, but when we walked back to where we had parked our bikes . . . my bike was gone! Someone had stolen my bike, with Keiric's baby seat on the back, and my basket on the front!
Apparently, this kinda thing happens a lot, but you never really expect it to happen to you. It was a nice bike, but certainly used, and goodness - you would think having a child's seat on the back would distract potential thieves. It was weird, and I didn't know what to do - its not like your car where you have to call the police and all, there was nothing that could be done about it - but since it's our only mode of transportation, I was all flustered. We ended up walking Jeremy's bike across town to the used bike store and had to buy another bike for me and a seat for Keiric. I'm just going to have to go without a basket for awhile :(
