Kaylie's School(s)

Thank you, to all of you who have been praying for Kaylie's school situation. After meeting with the city of Alkmaar to register, Heather went over to the school in our neighborhood to see what she could do about getting Kaylie signed up for school. They told her that with the language situation, they could not take her as a full-time student, but they gave Heather an address and number for a school in Alkmaar that specializes in students who do not speak Dutch. With the help of our Dutch friend, Sonja, we got a place held for her (there were only two left when we called), and we'll be going there tomorrow to officially register her.

So the plan is to send Kaylie to that school, which apparently focuses on teaching the students Dutch, much more than the traditional academic subjects, four days a week. She will then go to the neighborhood school one half day a week just to slowly integrate her into the regular Dutch classroom. Part of this half day includes P.E., so she won't be spending a whole lot of time learning academics in Dutch, but we will be continuing to work with her after school on the information she will need when we return to America for the next school year. We feel that we are getting the best of both worlds - she will be getting the extra help she needs and not feel too overwhelmed since all the kids in her class will be learning Dutch togther, but she will also get to meet and interact with other kids her age who live in our own neighborhood including one friend she has from church who will be in her same class. We still have to confirm all of this when we go tomorrow, but we are very excited about the way God is working this out!
